*Please Make a Note for Different Brand Racks. Because we have different parts for different Racks.

Kindly Reminder: please make sure main tank and auxiliary fuel tank should be fully filled.

Easy to install, factory looking fit and convenient. Occupying the unused space between the rear tire and the pannier rack, the CG tank keeps the fuel weight low, balances the weight of the exhaust system on the other side and leaves your rear rack free for a duffle bag or top box.
Add extra range to your BMWR1200GS/R1200GSAdventure/R1250GS/R1250GSAdventure with the auxiliary gas tank from CG motoparts. Whether you need more fuel so you can iron-butt it to your next destination, explore a Backcountry Discovery Route, or simply want peace of mind knowing that you’ve got gas to spare, CG can meet your needs!

*All extra fees such as taxes, duties, tariffs, brokerage, etc are not included in the purchase price. Customers are responsible for payment of these fees!*

Feature:

  • Holds 10 liters
  • Fuel is automatically transferred from the auxiliary tank to the main tank
  • Keep fuel weight low and close to the centerline of the bike
  • Free up your rear luggage rack for a top box or duffel bag
  • Including tethered fuel tank cap

Working Principle:

  • The aux-fuel tank is connected to the main tank air intake.
  • Generally when fuel is sucked from the main tank (by the motor fuel pump), air is pulled in.
  • However, when with the aux-fuel tank, new fuel is pulled instead of air.
  • The aux-fuel tank is vented to let air in.

*We do not recommend using soft bags without luggage racks. An unsupported soft bag will put a large side load on the fuel tank and bracket, especially if the bicycle falls from the left side.

Auxiliary fuel tank

good product, delivery was a bit delayed, but an email sent to them helped quickly. tank fit perfectly bracket are good tank installed in 2 hours. just tested and works as described. no user manual but a YouTube video. this is sufficient as it is self-explanatory and comes with what you need. in short, perfect and an 10 liter added, which means 40 usable liters for the adventure.

Lots of guess work vs detailed instructions

Why?
Why wouldn't you provide Instructions?

Technically the install of the fuel cell, minus the plumbing, should take all of 15 minutes, but the lack of detail instructions caused second guessing with every bolt.

The tolerances are really tight, so be sure to leave everything loose until the fuel cell is in place. You'll save your time and your knuckles. Once it is in place it is super tight, may too tight.

There is a lot of unnecessary hardware. Once I identified what I need and what I didn't, I replaced all of the hardware with quality stainless bolts, flat washers and cut washers. The m6x18mm cap screws that were provided were of poor quality.

Torque values for the bolts would be nice to assure that bolts are not over tightened.

I am doing a tank off install of the plumbing and will follow up on how that goes and a provide details on how it works once we get everything back together.

Hidden gem that’s pure utility

Regardless of not having instructions the YouTube video that is posted on the webpage is a great step by step tutorial. I uninstalled my fuel tank to route the auxiliary fuel lines more cleanly and secured them inline with the subframe and wire harnesses. The fit and finish of the tank and hardware is excellent and is engineered for the R1200GS adventure perfectly. The main fuel tank stays full until the auxiliary tank is empty and works perfectly. Overall for the GSA I now have 10.5 gallons of usable fuel. Perfect world I can get another 130-140 miles. Can’t believe no one knows about this.
